Kirk Craig Ltd. can guarantee quality products and service, through our ISO 9001 Quality Assurance accreditations: As a family run business, we are always mindful of the future of our next generations, this is why the manufacture and installation of our products are in line with our Environmental ISO 1401 accreditation. Health and safety of paramount importance here at Kirk Craig Ltd., this is maintained through our ISO policies, as well as our CHAS accreditation. Kirk Craig Ltd. understand the importance of fire protection and have achieved a FIRAS accreditation for the installation of fire rated roller shutters, and steel door sets. All of our personnel are DBS checked, to the enhanced checks including bar lists, and hold current CSCS site safety cards.
All of our products are fully compliant with all current regulations marked and we are able to offer warranties for up to fire years on our products, which are backed up by our 24hr emergency response service.
History of Kirk Craig Ltd.
Robert Craig started Craig Installations, originally installing and repairing conveyor belts and other plant machinery for the Coal Board up and down the UK.
Following a chance conversation with his local newsagents, regarding a repair to one of his roller shutters; which he had been waiting five weeks for the original installer to come out and repair. Robert being ever helpful, repaired the newsagent's roller shutter for him, and saw that there was an opportunity to improve on the product, as he knew he could improve on the service.
So back in 1986, Craig Installations quickly grew on a reputation of good quality made products and reliability, backed by a 24hr call out service. As his reputation grew, so did his client base, taking on local authorities and Merseyside Police to name a few.
As the company grew, Robert saw the need to invest in machinery, i.e. a press brake, rolling mills and guillotines to produce in-house roller shutter components; giving him a greater control over quality.
Word quickly spread and other roller shutter companies became aware of a reliable local supplier, (the nearest at the time was Birmingham). Demand then grew at this point in 1993, Craig Engineering was established to look after the manufacture and supply to trade customers of roller shutter components, with Robert Craig as the Managing Director.
Craig Roller Shutters was established to look after the installation, maintenance, and repair side of the business, this was run by Scott Craig; Robert's son. Both companies continued to grow, and in 2002 with an eye to the future and Robert's eventual succession, the decision was made to merge the two companies back together under the name of Kirk Craig Ltd., with Robert as the Managing Director, and Scot as the Director.
In the next 20 years which followed, Kirk Craig Ltd. has achieved ISO 9001 quality assurance, and ISO14001 environmental standards, as well as CHAS, a health and safety accreditation, a FIRAS accreditation for the installation of fire rated roller shutters and steel door sets. Our products are fully CE Marked and we are members of the DHF (Doors and Hardware Federation); our trade body which keeps us updated with legislation and advice which affects the industry.
Kirk Craig Ltd. continues to innovate with new products such as Shutter Graphics, inbuilt lintel systems, DDA compliance products, as well as bespoke fabrication, automated gates and secure play areas.
To date Scott Craig is the Managing Director and runs the company with the same strong values of quality of product, and reliability of service, supported with a 24hr, 365 days a year call out service; instilled in him by his father Robert.
